Wooden Disappearing Stairways Are No More

We regret to inform you that the original disappearing stairway is no longer available. This disappearing stairway has been a staple across the United States for more than 100 years. Mr. Bessler was the original inventor of the disappearing stairway. He first invented the Model 100 and the Model 70 Attic Ladders. This invention was one of a kind and required only slight design modifications over the 100 year span. American Stairways, Inc. was the most recent manufacturer of the disappearing stairway. Ultimately, they were forced to stop production at the beginning part of 2021 due to lack of raw materials, supply chain issues, and manufacturing difficulties. They were as sad to see the product as I was. Our company has been dealing this stairway for 30 plus years. We were considered the West Coast stocking distributor. It is a shame to break this news, but I have received a lot of calls so I figured that I would put it into a blog for our customers. That being said, we do still have some replacement parts available for certain sizes and models. We also know of attic ladders that could be substituted to replace your existing Bessler Stairway.
